TV Shows Reviews

If you are an action film lover, Agent Kim Reactivated is what you should be watching for the weekend. The series follows Kim Do-hyeon, better known as Manager Kim, a former elite cover operative who once worked in the shadows of both arch-rival North and South Korea. After living years in violence and dangerous missions, Manager Kim decides to leave all of that behind to live a peaceful life with his daughter. To do this, he settles into the ordinary life of an office employee. Being a single father (his wife passed away), he dedicates his entire time to raising his daughter, Min-ji. However, his seemingly ordinary life comes to a standstill when his daughter is kidnapped. Forced to get back into action, he comes to his form, which he never thought he would get back to.  Now he is no longer an agent or a manager, but he is a father who will go to great heights to get his daughter back.

Though just one episode is released, it is safe to say that the show is quite captivating. We get to see the transformation of Kim from an Agent to a Manager and again to an Agent. There are many twists and turns that will be coming up as and when the episodes release, which will tell us about his past life, his missions, his late wife, and much more. That will surely be an interesting watch once the episodes come out. As I already mentioned, one can expect many action scenes in this show. This goes without saying. The sequences are well coordinated, and we can tell this by the execution of Agent Kim Reactivated.

The only issue I found was that the plot is quite ordinary and not something new. At this point, when there are so many options to watch from, the last thing we want is a show that gives us a plot we have already seen many times in various forms, such as movies and TV shows. When that happens, after a while, the audience might even lose interest in watching the show any further. I fear that might also happen with Agent Kim Reactivated. Though it’s too early to predict all this, let’s hope the new episodes will keep us engaged with whatever we get to see.  Other than that, the pacing is even. It’s not like the fight sequence goes on and on forever. That is also one good thing about Agent Kim Reactivated. That ensures that you won’t get bored, at least when you are watching the sequences of action.

In addition to all this, there is plenty of humor too.  I know, one thinks that shows involving agents are the ones that are supposed to be the serious ones. But thankfully, that isn’t the case with Agent Kim Reactivated, and we get to see some light-hearted moments as well. The villains also add a layered narrative to the show, which, as mentioned, adds twists and turns. So all in all, if you are ready to ignore the part of repetition, then Agent Kim Reactivated is what you should be watching because it does have other elements that make it a compelling watch.
