The first season of Fubar was fantastic. The second season got the fans really excited. This leaves us with a question: is the second season as good as the first one? And are these two seasons related? Now, we all know wherever Arnold Schwarzenegger is involved, action is guaranteed. And season 2 gives us that. However, compared to the first season, the action is less. Here’s what happens in this season. After their identities are revealed, Luke Brunner and his daughter, Emma, are forced out of hiding. With the new season, we witness the emergence of new villains. Luke’s ex/former German Spy, Greta, comes into the picture. She is collaborating with a person named Dante Cress to sabotage the US and cause a third world war.
You must be wondering who exactly Dante is, and to everyone’s surprise, including the Burners, Dante is none other than M16 agent Theodore, aka Theo. He plans to launch a nuclear missile and destroy the world. Will he and Great succeed at their mission? Will the father-daughter duo stop this? What’s even interesting is that the writers have not left Luke’s love life alone. We also get to see who he decides to end up with.
Coming to visual effects, when we compare them with the first season, something seems to be lacking here. Moreover, the plot feels childish and disjointed. For instance, a World War Three scenario involving nuclear weapons is a very predictable plot. I don’t know why the makers decided to go ahead with this and not think of something better.
The plot feels a bit stretched, but it still has its moments, thanks to the plot twist involving Theo. Arnold Schwarzenegger is a delight with his acting and action skills, but the plot doesn’t realize his full potential. Additionally, the beautiful Monica Barbaro looks very beautiful as his daughter. Overall, this father-daughter duo gives a very glamorous appearance on screen. Carrie-Anne Moss proves to be a great addition to the main cast, showcasing her acting, action, and humor skills. She is the perfect villain the show needed.
One positive aspect of the plot is that it is filled with humor. Lots of it. The fun and casual banter between the characters delivers a good laugh.
However, despite all this, the show doesn’t live up to our expectations the way it should have. As mentioned before, although the acting and action are good, the plot lacks heavy originality and creativity. We need that from a show that stars Arnold Schwarzenegger. Without these main ingredients, his talents, along with the rest of the cast, are heavily wasted. But for those who loved season 1, season 2 can be given a shot, though entertainment and satisfaction might not be guaranteed.
Final Score- [6.5/10]
