TV Shows Reviews

Right at the start of episode 1, we see a sincere-looking man. He is introduced to us as Eiji Kurisu, a tax accountant. As the episode progresses further, we are shown that he is sitting across the owner of a big company, who tells him that their Horse Racing Division, which was meant to be their core business, is the one facing huge losses. The owner of the company, aka Yutaro, suspects his father of embezzlement of funds, but can’t prove it. It is at this moment that it becomes clear to us that he wishes to have Eiji Kurisu check the funds of the horse business in order to prevent corruption. And thus Eiji Kurisu reaches the man himself, Kozo Sanno. In order to conceal his real motives, Eiji Kurisu arrives on behalf of L&U Accounting Firm. Kozo Sanno is the typical businessman that you have seen before in other movies and shows. He talks business and goes firmly by the principle that time is money. His first words to Eiji Kurisu were that he was late. Not that he was very late, he was just five minutes. This trait of Kozo Sanno shows us that he is a man of his word. He doesn’t mince words and is very clear on what he expects and how he expects. But you really think that a man like him won't understand what his son is up to? And thus, in no time, he tells Eiji Kurisu that he knows exactly who he is.

But in between all this, Eiji Kurisu develops his fondness for the horses and also understands Kozo Sanno pretty well. Slowly and steadily, he realises that there was a reason why Kozo Sanno ‘s horses needed more maintenance than the others. Additionally, there is also a corruption taking place behind Kozo Sanno’s back. But the question is, now that he has understood the real deal, will he be able to prevent the Horse Racing Division from shutting down? Will he be able to save the horses from getting sold? We are also shown Eiji Kurisu’s story. His life is filled with the guilt of not joining his father in the business of tax consulting sooner. Time ran by, and his father passed away. This guilt haunts him to date.

So overall, the plot might interest a large section of people. For example, those who understand horse racing and those who are into the consulting business. It’s a bit complicated to understand the show in one go. For this reason, some of us might even find it slightly boring to watch. This happened to me. Also, the show is slow. So you might be watching it, but at the same time feel very bored as well. Hence, I would suggest watching it only if you fall in the category of the above two. For those who wish for something lighter, there are other releases coming up, too. This is heavy on emotion. Yes, if the complications reduce, the show has the potential to become a good watch due to Eiji Kurisu’s back story. Hence, let's keep an eye on the upcoming episodes.

Final Score- [6/10]
