TV Shows Reviews

If you are looking for something to watch with family now that Christmas is just around the corner, Netflix has you covered. Sicily Express, in every sense, brings the spirit of holidays to life with its humor and love.

The plot revolves around Salvo and Valentino, who are nurses working in Milano. They live far from their families. With Christmas approaching, these two are desperately trying their level best to get home on time and be with their loved ones. But that is easier said than done. With work and finances getting in the way of getting a holiday, it is becoming difficult to reach home on time. And just as they were about to lose their hope, they stumbled across a magical portal hidden in a trash bin that could actually transport them back and forth from Milan to Sicily. Now, I know reading this, you might think What on earth is this plot, but it is the execution that creates magic by watching, not by reading. And mind you, this portal has its very own set of problems that the two nurses have to deal with. So there is a big twist coming your way, too.

The writers have surely played with the adult feeling of wishing for a portable transport in order to reach our favorite destinations, which most of the times includes home. It is this feeling that they leveraged upon in order to make a movie that many people can relate to.  But what truly shines on is the fact that there is a twist that we least expected. The portal having issues is one of the cruxes that make the show very interesting to watch. Come to think of it, it is both a problem and a solution to a problem.

Other than the above, there is plenty of humor to look out for. You will get enough scenes that are comedic in nature and make you laugh. The pacing is even, which also helps to get a hang of the scenes. Now, this aspect is very crucial when talking about comedy because without that, the audience might not be able to understand the joke that is being conveyed. Thankfully, the makers gave us enough to laugh at all in all, with our brains being able to interpret it too.

Also, the cast has done a great job in bringing the festival spirit to life by bringing all the fun to us while watching the series. It is something you can watch with family with no fear of anything weird because all this show focuses on is the spirit of Christmas and what it means to celebrate Christmas as an adult.

So now that the festival is just a few days away, you can plan your movie date and watch it with your kids and family. It is five episodes long, which also ensures that you aren’t going to get bored. This simple show will truly have your heart.
