With the series finale just days away, The Boys’ long, chaotic journey is finally racing toward its conclusion—but instead of the electric anticipation that should come with the end of such a groundbreaking show, fans are feeling nervous. After years of shocking twists, pitch-black humor, and relentless brutality, the official teaser for the last episode, paired with the leaks and spoilers, isn’t delivering any of that signature adrenaline. There’s no sense of grand payoff, no mounting dread that screams “endgame,” and no indication that the writers are about to stick the landing with the kind of jaw-dropping, emotionally charged finale the series has always promised. Instead, the leaks paint a picture of more of the same slow-burn frustrations from the rest of the season, and the overall vibe suggests a rushed, underwhelming wrap-up rather than the explosive, unforgettable send-off everyone was hoping for.
The official teaser poster depicts Homelander hovering triumphantly like a god above a smoke-filled, battle-scarred White House at sunset, arms outstretched as debris and bodies rain down around him. In the foreground, Billy Butcher strides straight across the lawn toward the building, crowbar gripped tightly in his hand. Fans are disappointed because, after seven episodes, there’s been zero buildup suggesting Homelander would spiral far enough to literally destroy the White House—especially since he’s already killed off the most powerful figures, including the President, and replaced them with his own handpicked loyalists.
However, the majority of the fans are more worried about the action plan of the Boys, who are preparing Kimiko to become as powerful as Soldier Boy and destroy Homelander. A few leaks are circulating all over social media that suggest that Kimiko is indeed going to have full-blown atomic-level power like Jensen Ackles' character. In episode 7, Kimiko stays behind at the hideout with Frenchie, Butcher, and Sister Sage. Her actions revolve around turning herself into a living weapon capable of stripping Compound V (or V1) from Homelander's system—the same radiation-based depowering ability Soldier Boy has.
In other disappointing news, Soldier Boy will not be in any kind of action in the final episode. A leak suggests him to be part of a mid-credit scene, seemingly getting rescued by Stan Edgar from the ruins of Vought Tower. Fans expected a big showdown related to Soldier Boy, similar to what we saw in the third season - one of the best superhero fight scenes that involved Homelander, Soldier Boy, and Butcher.
The finale leak suggests there won't be any survivors from the team of The Seven (Homelander has already disbanded Seven). The Deep, Homelander, and Oh Father will get killed. Homelander has brought many other supes from all over to support him in his claim to become the new god. The new supes together fight against the team of Boys, who are joined by Marie and other characters from Gen V. There will be an intense fight between Butcher and Homelander, which will ultimately result in the demise of Homelander. Everyone from the Boys team will survive.
All the rumors, leaks, and teasers have left the already disappointed fans even more anxious. Aside from the first two episodes, the entire fifth season has been a slow-burning slog with barely any action, only a string of out-of-character stupid decisions. The whole concept of Kimiko turning herself into a weapon was awkwardly dropped in the penultimate episode. The Boys has always been defined by shocking twists, dark humor, and brutal, high-octane action. This season has been missing almost all of that. And with this being the final season, there’s still no real sense of urgency in the air—no feeling that the endgame is actually near. The Boys Season 5 Episode 8 will premiere on May 20, 2026, on Prime Video.
