Following a series of leaks via Marvel insiders and fans who went to see Avatar 3, Marvel Studios finally decided to make the first teaser trailer officially available online, now that it has already been replaced by the Thor teaser in the theaters. However, Marvel has decided not to reveal any details regarding the plot of the film or the description of the characters. At the end of the teaser, it only says, "Steve Rogers Will Return In Avengers: Doomsday."
This teaser was earlier leaked online around mid-December, originally attached to theatrical screenings of Avatar: Fire and Ash. It marks the official confirmation of Chris Evans' return as Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, who seemed to have retired after the events of Avengers: Endgame.
The teaser starts with Steve Rogers riding a motorcycle up to his lakeside home from Endgame, the same peaceful, rural setting where he lived with Peggy Carter after retiring. He dismounts, removes and places his blue helmet on the bike (a nod to his Captain America gear), and walks toward the house, appearing contemplative in civilian clothes. Inside the house, Steve holds his Endgame-era Captain America suit, staring at it with hesitation and nostalgia, as if contemplating suiting up once more. The next scene shows Steve cradling a newborn baby with a proud, smiling expression. This introduces a family element, implying he has a child, adding personal stakes. The baby reveal emphasizes themes of fatherhood, peace after war, and protection of the next generation. As seen in The Fantastic Four end credits, this ties into broader Doomsday rumors of Doctor Doom threatening superhero families or children.
This teaser teases Steve Rogers as a lead in Avengers: Doomsday, presumably serving as the emotional anchor for the team as they face Doctor Doom's multiverse menace. The family angle implies a storyline in which Doom targets vulnerable characters such as children - Steve's son, Thor's daughter, or Reed and Sue's son. Although it's all just speculation, as Marvel is likely to reveal the official logline in January 2026, when they will unveil the first trailer of Avengers: Doomsday.
Apart from the teaser, Marvel also revealed the first official poster for the much-anticipated event film of next year. The poster shows the release date of the film in a similar theme, which is shown at the end of the teaser. Below is the poster:
Directed by Anthony Russo and Joe Russo with Robert Downey Jr., Pedro Pascal, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Vanessa Kirby, and more, Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled for release on December 18, 2026, in theaters worldwide.
