For those of you who have seen the first season, you already know what this season is keeping with. So I must give a warning that I usually give towards the end: watch at your own risk, before these are the stories that might be very painful to watch for some of us. Just like season 1, Worst Ex Ever Season 2 comes back with stories of survivors who, after a bad relationship, had to handle the torture of their exes in every worst way possible. The four new cases featured in this season tell us how quickly love can turn into manipulation, control, and in some extreme cases, violence. Though the format chosen is similar, in each episode, we see how a relationship turns into something darker and more sinister than what one expected it to be. With the help of archived footage, interviews of the survivors, and commentary, we can see the whole timeline of the relationship unfold in front of us, which might be enough to scare anyone watching Worst Ex Ever Season 2. By allowing the storyline to unfold gradually, there is a sense of dread and panic that is created slowly and steadily. It keeps you on your toes throughout the runtime.
What I loved the most about Worst Ex Ever Season 2 was the fact that the voices of the survivors were given a platform so big that people could understand what they had gone through. It also helped us to gain clarity of what some of the worst things can happen if a relationship goes sour, and how one should never ignore even a small red flag that is there in a relationship or in a person.
But even with all that, as mentioned earlier, these stories are highly disturbing. It can break anyone while watching the survivors talk about their stories. The cases that appear this time on Worst Ex Ever Season 2 are more shocking than ever. Right from violent partners to hidden pasts and whatnot. Whatever the worst one can think of comes true when you listen to the stories of these survivors.
The pacing of the show is even. You can see that enough time is given to the survivors to narrate their plots. There is no rushing at all. Compared to season 1, the pacing is an improvement. Nowhere have the makers slowed the pacing so much that a need for rushing has arisen. Neither have they rushed with the stories. That is the best part of the whole season.
But keeping all this aside, one has to remember the fact that these are all real stories of real people who have scarred memories from a love they thought would last forever. For me, this fact has been the most haunting one. Worst Ex Ever Season 2 lives up to what it expected: delivering gripping, real stories. So if you are someone brave enough to watch, go ahead and watch it. Otherwise, I feel, something else and easy-going can be watched too.
Final Score- [8/10]
