Chosen Home is a delightful story of the formation of an unlikely household. At the center of it is Hatano Genichi. He is a shy gay man who wishes to find a partner and also buy himself a house. To fulfill his dreams, he has met potential matches, but none of them could make him feel the sparks. Then we have Sakuta Saku, a high school teacher who is twelve years younger than him. After a chance meeting, Hatano Genichi is attracted to Sakuta Saku, but Sakuta Saku has his own apprehension about Hatano, as he feels he doesn’t need love right now. This age of his, according to him, is the trial-and-error one. Both these men are different in temperament, too. Hatano is clumsy, shy, and hyper.

In a sharp contrast, Saku is calm and quiet. He doesn’t feel the need to rush into a relationship of any sort. Instead of being disappointed, Hatano comes up with a plan: he suggests that the two buy a house since Saku doesn’t have a proper place to live. However, this proposal doesn’t go well with Saku, and his reaction is full of anger and disgust. Now comes into the picture, Kusunoki Hotaru, a 15-year-old. She doesn’t have a proper family and has always longed for one. She, too, meets Hatano accidentally and convinces him to act like her father and guardian. What's even funnier is the fact that Saku is her teacher. So now, during a routine visit to Hotaru’s house, they have a weird meetup.

The plot is funny, no doubt. But falters big time in execution. The pacing is very slow. Although just one episode is out, the first one didn’t create much of an impression as I expected. The plot has potential, but doesn’t live up to it much. The dialogs aren’t punchier either. One can get bored while watching the show. Also, it’s a bit hard to understand what exactly is happening in the show. Especially the character of Hatano. He is boring, and so much of the screen time is given to him solely that it is annoying to see him again and again after a certain point in time.

In all honesty, you can watch something else and much better in shows. This one, yes, we should wait for the other episodes to realize, but nonetheless, the first episode was boring. I didn’t enjoy it much. The acting, too, I felt, was over the top. I still didn’t understand what the makers were trying to tell.

So dear viewers, go for something else. This show is slow and offers nothing great to watch. Don’t waste your time here. Watching something fast and more fun will be something that everyone will like.

Final Score- [3/10]
