Right from the start, the vibe of “Finding Her Edge” seemed very pretentious. And in the first episode, which took forever to wrap up, I could understand this show is nothing “out of the box” as I thought. The plot revolves around Adriana (played by Madelyn Keys), who has hung up her ice skating dreams and skates. She is constantly overshadowed by her elder sister, Elise- an ice skating champ who is aiming for the Olympics. Elise’s coach is her father, a former world champion, and their late mother. The pressure on Elise is immense. One accident leads to an injury, and Elise, along with the Russo family’s dream, comes crashing down. And yes, if your mind is lingering towards Adriana taking the place of her sister to fulfill the family dream, you guessed it right, my friend.

So, without wasting much time, the family decides to push a reluctant Adriana back into the skating arena. Adriana now has a new skating partner- Brayden (played by Cale Ambrozic), who also happens to be Elise. Meanwhile, Adriana is stuck on her former partner (both personal and professional), Freddie, who has now moved on in life. Since sponsorship is an issue, we also have an angle of fake dating, and yes again, if you are guessing the couple and also the third person who will be getting jealous, you are right again.

This plot was the most “no effort taken at all” plot. Like, seriously, what nonsense did the makers come up with? This plot looks so much like “The Kissing Booth” franchise. It is terrible, and God, the pacing will drive you to distraction. The episodes are long, and all we witness is a confused Adriana. At one point, I felt like just yelling at her. In a plot like this, we all know there can be no character development whatsoever. We have one girl for whom decision-making becomes a big challenge, a father who is putting too much pressure for an Olympic medal, and an ex whose snobbishness won’t go away. All this is predictable. So many movies have already come out on similar themes, and are now released every now and then.  The humor used is also very boring. It doesn’t manage to spill any laughter at all. Everything, for some weird reason, feels very forced, including the acting. All the actors are going overboard with their portrayal of the character, which makes it feel as if they are doing comedy. The dialogs are no different. In a plot like this, I really didn’t have many expectations for the dialogue. Like I knew it would be the last thing to be good, and I was proved right throughout the eight episodes.

I really want to ask the makers: why would they create something like this? What did they get out of it? If a family drama has been taken, there are ways not to make it sound chaotic. But here we are with “Finding Her Edge,” which can literally bring you to the edge of your sanity with not even a single thing worth appreciating.

Final Score- [3/10]
