Watching movies in 4K looks great because the picture is sharp and full of detail. But to enjoy this quality without buffering, you need good internet speed.
Most people don't know why 4K requires more internet, so here's a simple explanation.

What Is 4K

4K is a very high video quality. It has four times more detail than normal Full HD. Full HD is 1080p and 4K is 2160p, so the picture has way more pixels.
That is why colors look better, edges look clearer, and everything feels more real. Because 4K has more detail, it needs more data to load every second.

Effect of 4K Resolution on Internet Speed

4K uses a lot of data, so your internet must load the video fast. If your speed is low, the movie will pause or buffer. Streaming apps also have their own speed needs.

Netflix needs around 15 Mbps for 4K, while Disney Plus and Apple TV Plus ask for about 25 Mbps. Amazon Prime Video usually needs around 18 Mbps, and YouTube about 20 Mbps. Hulu needs around 16 Mbps.

These numbers are only for one person watching on one device.

In homes, many people use the internet together. Someone may be gaming or on a video call. Someone may be downloading. That means you need more than the minimum speed.
So two people watching 4K may need 30 to 40 Mbps. Likewise three people may need 60 Mbps or more. Wi Fi also slows things down compared to a cable connection.

Tips to Improve 4K Streaming

In general, the more people who are using the internet, the more speed you will need.
Now here are the tips to improve 4k streaming:

● Check your speed online. You can test it anytime using a simple Speed Test to see if your connection is fast enough.
● Use an ethernet cable. This gives a stable and faster connection for 4K.
● Use the 5 GHz Wi Fi band. It is faster for streaming than the 2.4 GHz band.
● Avoid big downloads during movies. This leaves more speed for your 4K stream.
● Keep your Wi Fi router close. Nearby router means better signal and fewer slowdowns. For example, the Hyatt Wi-Fi test shows how hotel Wi Fi speeds can change a lot depending on the place. Good for understanding real-world speeds.

Furthermore, lower the video quality if needed. Switch to Full HD when your speed drops. It still looks good and loads faster.
