So for those of you who enjoyed the Ocean’s series and Casino Royale, this might intrigue you as well. We all dream of winning a lump-sum jackpot that can make us rich instantly. And this show follows the plot of the same. The plot revolves around the life of José Luis Conejera, a civil servant who no longer has much hope in life. As a child, he wished to become a race car driver, but that dream has gone for a six because of the mundane work and tasks the world offers. He lives with his girlfriend, Laura, and her teenage daughter, who, coincidentally, is a great race car driver. José Luis Conejera is very supportive of her interests in race and is an extremely proud man. Things change drastically when he undergoes mounting pressure from his corrupt boss at work, and the country faces economic stagnation, which affects him too. He decides to turn to the lottery. But here is the catch: he does not simply buy lottery tickets and wait for the results while leaving everything to fate. He fakes the lottery in order to create a win for himself. For this, he manages to get a team of people who agreed to be part of this so-called “heist”. He maneuvers the balls that will draw his numbers only. How he hatches the plan is something you have to sit and watch.

While this may sound interesting, what makes it even more interesting to watch is the fact that this show is based on the real story that targets Mexico’s lottery drawing session.  There are many things that work in favor of the show. For example, José Luis Conejera’s character, played by Alberto Guerra. That character has a lot of layers in it. We see a frustrated man, but also hell bent to change his life. That’s a positive side of the show. The way the makers bring us his story by mixing past and present is worth a watch for sure. However, the plot is a bit confusing to watch. It has twists and turns that remain slightly unexplained. The pacing feels a bit problematic as well. It is slow, and some scenes are dragged for no reason. I don’t know why the makers didn’t pay much attention to that. Having said that, I still feel that these aspects can be ignored well.

But the real motive behind the plot is good. We get to see a mastermind at making. And if you happen to be someone who loves decoding things, you will enjoy watching the plot quite a lot. It will offer you the right amount of intrigue, which will keep you hooked right from start to finish. So while it may not be your best watch, keeping in mind the similarity the plot has with movies and shows that came before it, it might not be right to dismiss it solely for this reason.

Final Score- [7/10]
