This movie revolves around a pastor named Seph who loses his father Otep. Just like his son, Otep was a devotee in a church and was involved with the church. However, what was about to happen did not prepare Seph for it. At the funeral, it was discovered that Otep was a gay man and ended up spending decades trying to hide the truth. This leaves Seph really confused and unable to understand how exactly he should react to the whole situation. Upon a deeper dive, Seph discovers his father’s love letters written to a pen friend, where, upon reading, he sees clearly all the love and emotions poured into the letter. Seph, who is a pastor, has to accept this truth of his father now and at the same time change his belief systems too. This entire journey of becoming more open and accepting is what the film captures.

What I particularly liked about the film was its concept of involving a pastor and homosexuality. The fact that someone so close to Seph was gay and how he deals with the whole situation is a journey worth watching. It does open our eyes, too, as viewers. That is the whole beauty of the movie, and this is one of the main reasons why it should be watched.  The father-son relationship has been explored extensively both in life and after life. That creates a major attraction of the film because we see a son dealing with his father’s secrets and not the other way around.  The level of maturity shown by Seph at such a young age also shows the nuanced character development that the makers did. The character of Seph continues to develop throughout the movie. It is really amazing to watch him go from discovering his father’s secrets to coming to terms with them. Self-introspection also makes us put our thinking caps on and see how much we need to work on ourselves. We are often shown movies where it is the parent who has to accept their child’s choice. However, this was a fresh take where we see a child accepting his parents’ decision, even if it is after death. All these parts make this plot worth watching as it offers something new to us to watch for a long time.

So if you are someone who is into soulful movies, this plot is worth a watch. It leaves with you its fragments, which make you wonder about the delicate areas of life. Join Seph on his journey of self-introspection and learn more about life from this young pastor in the most unique ways.  The dialogue spoken in this movie is good-natured, and so is the overall cinematography. The pacing is even, and it doesn’t rush at any point. So wherever there are tender moments to relish for us, we get them too. By far, this is a great watch for a prolonged time, and I would highly recommend watching this.

Final Score- [8/10]
