Marvel Studios has revealed the leading cast of the upcoming MCU X-Men reboot movie that will feature an all-new cast, leaving out the previous cast of FOX films. In a highly anticipated moment at Disney’s D23 Entertainment Showcase on August 14, 2026, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige took the stage to officially introduce the core cast of the studio’s long-awaited X-Men reboot. Directed by Jake Schreier (Thunderbolts*), the film—described by Feige as “Jean Grey’s story”—is scheduled for theatrical release on May 5, 2028. It marks the full integration of the iconic mutant team into the Marvel Cinematic Universe following the Multiverse Saga.

Director Jake Schreier was joined onstage by actress Sadie Sink, who played Jean Gray in Marvel Studios' Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The trio then welcomed Sink’s new costars to the stage: Kit Connor as Scott Summers, Christopher Abbott as Professor Charles Xavier, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Inde Navarrette as Rogue, Maya Boyd as Storm, and later confirmed Adam Driver as Mister Sinister aka Nathaniel Milbury. The rest of the cast will be revealed at a later date.

"When Kevin told me to show up for X-Men, I assumed he meant on set," Driver said. "So instead of being there in California, I’m here at Pinewood [Studios] on this very lonely soundstage. Kevin and I have been talking for years about maybe joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And I think we finally found the perfect film at the perfect time. So I’m very excited to be playing Mag…. Nope. Even better. Nathaniel Milbury. So I’ll be right here, waiting for everybody to show up."

The ensemble builds on Sadie Sink’s already-debuted turn as Jean Grey in Spider-Man: Brand New Day and includes previously reported additions alongside major new reveals. The screenplay is being written by Lee Sung Jin (Beef), Joanna Calo (Thunderbolts, *The Bear), and Michael Lesslie. Here is a closer look at the newly confirmed cast, with brief backgrounds on the actors and the characters they will portray.

Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, one of the original X-Men, a powerful telepath and telekinetic whose immense potential has often made her both a hero and a vessel for the cosmic Phoenix Force. In the MCU, her story is positioned as central to the new film, following her introduction in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Sadie Sink rose to prominence as Max Mayfield in Netflix’s Stranger Things. A Broadway veteran who starred as Annie as a child and later earned acclaim in The Whale opposite Brendan Fraser, Sink has also appeared in the Fear Street trilogy.

Kit Connor as Scott Summers / Cyclops is the strategic field leader of the X-Men. He projects powerful optic blasts from his eyes that he can only control with a specialized ruby-quartz visor. A natural tactician and one of Professor X’s first students, he is frequently defined by his sense of duty and complicated romantic history with Jean Grey. British actor Kit Connor broke out as Nick Nelson in Netflix’s Heartstopper, earning a Children’s and Family Emmy. He has also appeared in Rocketman as a young Elton John, voiced roles in His Dark Materials and The Wild Robot, and starred on Broadway in Romeo & Juliet.

Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, also known as the White Queen, is a sophisticated telepath who can transform her body into organic diamond for invulnerability. Originally a villainous member of the Hellfire Club, she has evolved into a complex ally and occasional X-Men leader, blending sharp intellect, ambition, and loyalty to mutantkind. Australian actress Samara Weaving first gained notice on the soap Home and Away before becoming a genre favorite in films like Ready or Not, The Babysitter, Mayhem, and Scream VI. She is the niece of actor Hugo Weaving.

Christopher Abbott as Professor Charles Xavier / Professor X  is the founder of the X-Men and one of the world’s most powerful telepaths. A visionary who dreams of peaceful coexistence between humans and mutants, he operates a school for gifted youngsters and uses his vast mental abilities—and technology like Cerebro—to guide and protect his students. Christopher Abbott is known for intense performances in independent cinema and prestige television. He gained early recognition as Charlie on HBO’s Girls, earned an Independent Spirit Award nomination for James White, and has appeared in It Comes at Night, Poor Things, Possessor, and the miniseries Catch-22.

Inde Navarrette as Rogue possesses the ability to absorb the life force, memories, and powers of anyone she touches through skin contact—an ability that has long isolated her. Starting as a reluctant member of Mystique’s Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, she later joins the X-Men and becomes one of their most resilient and powerful members. Inde Navarrette appeared in 13 Reasons Why and as a series regular on Superman & Lois before her breakout performance in the 2025 horror film Obsession.

Maya Boyd as Storm is an Omega-level mutant with the power to control the weather, summoning lightning, wind, rain, and more. Born Ororo Munroe to a Kenyan princess and American photojournalist, she was once worshipped as a goddess in Africa before joining the X-Men, where she has served as a longtime leader and one of the team’s most powerful members. Maya Boyd is a rising Broadway star who led the cast of & Juliet as Juliet and previously appeared in the Tony-winning revival of Merrily We Roll Along. A University of Michigan musical-theater graduate and classically trained dancer from Ann Arbor, Michigan, she has quickly established herself as a versatile stage performer.

Adam Driver as Mister Sinister (Nathaniel Essex / Nathaniel Milbury) is a brilliant, immortal geneticist and one of the X-Men’s most dangerous enemies. Originally the Victorian-era scientist Nathaniel Essex, he was transformed by Apocalypse and became obsessed with mutant genetics, cloning, and evolution. His schemes have repeatedly threatened mutantkind, often centering on the Summers and Grey bloodlines. Adam Driver is an Oscar-nominated actor best known for Kylo Ren in the Star Wars sequel trilogy, as well as acclaimed roles in Marriage Story, BlacKkKlansman, Paterson, and Ferrari.

The announcement at D23 signals the beginning of a new era for the X-Men on the big screen. With a mix of established stars and exciting newcomers, Marvel’s reboot aims to introduce these classic characters to a new generation while weaving them into the larger MCU tapestry. Filming is expected to begin in 2027, and fans will have to wait until May 2028 to see this fresh team assemble.
