The Marsh King's Daughter director Neil Burger is heading to his new directing assignment in the Prime Video series, Motorheads for Amazon. Motorheads is a coming-of-age drama about a group of outsiders in a once-thriving Rust Belt town who form an unlikely friendship over a mutual love of automobiles.

Neil Burger recently directed The Marsh King's Daughter which stars Daisy Ridley and Ben Mendelsohn in the leading roles. His directing credits also include films such as Voyagers, Divergent, The Illusionist, Interview with the Assassin, The Upside, Limitless, and more.

Motorheads is about first love, first heartbreak, and turning the key to your first automobile. The series, set in a once-thriving rust-belt town looking for a glimpse of hope, tells the thrilling story of a group of outsiders who create an unexpected bond around a shared love of vehicles. While some people will navigate high school's hierarchy and standards, others will be fleeing a traumatic background.

Ruben Fleischer is directing the pilot episode. ‘Motorheads’ is currently in pre-production and will begin filming on March 25, 2024, in Toronto, Canada. The filming will take around four months to officially wrap on July 22, 2024. The cast and their character description have already been revealed by Amazon.

The cast of the series includes:

Ryan Phillippe as Logan - A former NASCAR technician who now runs an auto body business in his hometown of Ironwood, PA. Logan is having difficulty keeping his store going and lives in the shadow of his notorious brother, Christian Maddox.

Nathalie Kelley as Samantha - An ER nurse who has recently left her employment in New York City to return with her children to her rust-belt homeland.

Michael Cimino as Zac - He knows his father was a street racing legend in Ironwood, and he is anxious to live up to his father's legacy as the finest there has ever been.

Melissa Collazo as Caitlyn - She is Zac's sister and a mechanical genius who is obsessed with vehicles and understands how to repair them. Caitlyn thinks that moving to her parents' hometown may provide her with a clue concerning their father's absence.

Uriah Shelton as Curtis - He is a bit of an outcast and a competent teenage mechanic who built his motorcycle from scratch. He makes an effort to isolate himself from his older brother, Ray's environment.

Drake Rodger as Ray - Curtis's charismatic brother, who appears to be a kind person yet isn't afraid to break the law. He has a frightening side that is rarely seen, but when it is, it is terrifying.

Johnna Dias-Watson as Kiara - The daughter of the town’s mayor who is caught between the popular crowd and her new friends.

Josh Macqueen as Harris - The entitled, popular high school alpha dog whose powerful family controls the majority of the companies in Ironwood. He's a powerful champion in the local street racing scene.

Mia Healey as Alicia - the daughter of a tech company founder who gets caught in the shifting dynamics of the old town and the enticement of the new.

John A. Norris wrote and executive produced Motorheads, and he will also act as the showrunner. Jason Seagraves, Jake Fuller on behalf of Jax Media, Dana Brunetti, and Keegan Rosenberger also serve as executive producers for the series. Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland) is set to helm the pilot, while Ryan Zaragoza will serve as co-executive producer. Jax Media and Amazon MGM Studios are responsible for the series' production.
