Netflix has revealed a new trailer for the second season of ‘Rise of Empires: Ottoman,’ its historical docu-drama series. ‘Rise of Empires: Ottoman’ Season 2 will release on December 29, 2022, on Netflix, worldwide.

In Season 2, years after the conquest of Constantinople (Istanbul), Sultan Mehmed II consolidates his power, but a tyrannical ruler in Wallachia threatens to overthrow his empire. In this new season, Sultan II. Mehmed will face off against Vlad Dracula. The second season has been officially titled, Rise of Empires: Ottoman - Mehmed vs Vlad.

The trailer (watch above) teases the docu-series to be more dramatic with the story as well as the graphics, which include brutal violent scenes.

The first season released in 2020 follows Sultan Mehmed II, who wages a campaign to take the Eastern Roman capital of Constantinople, resulting in the capture of the city and establishment of the Ottoman Empire. It focuses on how the Ottomans took Constantinople, one of the most important cities in both the ancient and medieval worlds. It had previously been an impossible city to conquer, but the use of canons during the siege heralded a new era in which city walls were no longer sufficient to secure cities.

The first season stars Cem Yiğit Üzümoğlu as Mehmet the Conqueror, Tommaso Basili as Constantine XI Palaiologos, Tuba Büyüküstün as Mara Branković, Damla Sönmez as Ana, Selim Bayraktar as Çandarlı Halil Pasha, Osman Sonant as Loukas Notaras, Tolga Tekin as Murad II, Ushan Çakır as Zaganos Pasha, and Birkan Sokullu as Giovanni Giustiniani.

Rise of Empires: Ottoman is a docudrama based on the events of 1453 that led to the Ottoman Empire's capture of Constantinople, which was formerly ruled by the Byzantine Empire. The series follows Mehmed II (the Conqueror), Sultan of the Ottoman Empire, as he attempts to make a name for himself in history by conquering Constantinople, the legendary Byzantine capital that had never been conquered despite more than twenty attempts by foreign armies. On the other hand, Constantine XI commands the Byzantines in defense of the city.
