The fourth and final season of the Paramount+ hit series is gearing up to begin production. Season 4 was officially renewed on May 20, 2025, shortly after the Season 3 finale aired, making it the show's most successful season to date with record viewership and social engagement.

As per the recently revealed schedule, ‘Yellowjackets’ Season 4 will officially begin filming on February 25, 2026, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, and will take more than five months to wrap up on July 30, 2026. A few months back, it was announced that the fourth season would be the final season, concluding the series after initially being pitched as a potential five-season arc. The show's tagline for Season 4 is "The Wilderness rewards you 4 your devotion. -Yellowjackets will return."

In a joint statement, creators Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson said, “After three incredible seasons, and great consideration, we’re excited to announce that we will be bringing the story of Yellowjackets to its twisted conclusion in this fourth and final season. We’ve always known there would come a point when the story would tell us it wants to end, and we believe that our job—our responsibility—is to listen. Telling this emotional, wild, and deeply human story has been a profoundly meaningful experience and a true honor for us, and we’re so very grateful to the brilliant cast, crew, and writers who have bravely gone on the journey with us to bring it to life. Most of all, we want to thank the fans who have stuck with us through every moment, mystery, and meal—the Hive is nothing without you! We can’t wait to share the final chapter with you and hope you find it…delicious.”

Seeing the current state of production, Season 4 is likely to release sometime in 2027. Yellowjackets have always followed at least a one-year gap between its seasons, so this will be in accordance with its previous release timeline. Ashley Lyle, Bart Nickerson, and Jonathan Lisco will continue as co-showrunners in this final season. Creators also promise a "twisted conclusion" that's "delicious."

The full cast list for Season 4 has not been officially released, but based on Season 3's events and announcements, we can expect the majority of the actors to return, and those unlikely to return as series regulars are to their character deaths. The show features dual timelines (1996 teens and present-day adults), and deceased characters can appear in visions or flashbacks, as seen with Jackie (Ella Purnell) in prior seasons. Simone Kessell, Lauren Ambrose, Steven Krueger, and Alexa Barajas are unlikely to return as their characters died in the third season of the show. Returning cast should include - Melanie Lynskey, Sophie Nélisse, Christina Ricci, Samantha Hanratty, Tawny Cypress, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Sophie Thatcher, Liv Hewson, Hilary Swank, Elijah Wood, Warren Kole, Sarah Desjardins, Kevin Alves, Nia Sondaya, Nelson Franklin, and Joel McHale, among others.

The fourth season serves as the series finale, resolving major mysteries like the full extent of the wilderness survival, the "wilderness" entity's influence, and how the past haunts the present. After ~18 months (including two winters) in the wilderness, rescue seems imminent following Natalie's activation of the plane's transponder in the Season 3 finale, where she hears a voice respond, "Yes, I can hear you." The season may depict the rescue and immediate aftermath, including reintegration into society, dealing with media scrutiny, family, and school. Shauna's role as Antler Queen could lead to more brutality, with teases of further deaths and cannibalism. Unresolved elements like the full "pit girl" sequence and the group's rituals will likely be addressed. In the present timeline, Shauna faces isolation after her family leaves, and allies like Misty and Tai lose trust; she may embrace her darkest side. The survivors' secrets continue to unravel, with potential for more supernatural elements and character deaths.

Yellowjackets is a psychological horror-drama series on Paramount+ that follows a high school girls' soccer team who survive a plane crash in the Canadian wilderness in 1996, descending into savagery, while also tracking their lives as adults 25 years later. The show blends survival thriller elements with supernatural undertones and dark humor.
