Yoh! Bestie revolves around the life of Thando, who has long accepted that romance isn’t meant for her. Soon enough, her closest best friend Charles returns and announces that he is engaged. That makes Thando jealous. Does that mean that she is in love with her best friend? She remains in denial of herself with her own feelings. But how long can she bury her emotions regarding Charles? This makes her rethink her relationship with Charles. She also fears losing her bond with her best friend.  And Charles, too, is left confused with his own feelings regarding Thando. As the wedding approaches, these two are double-minded as to what they will do with their feelings regarding each other. Marriage means letting go of each other’s love. So will Charles take such a chance? Will Thando confess about her feelings to him? Moreover, is Thando sure that she is in love with him? Or is it some sort of long-term buried reaction?

‘Yoh! Bestie’s a highly predictable plot. If you are thinking of lines of engagement being called off, you may not be wrong. I mean, this is the kind of plot we all know what will happen to it in the end. There are no “big twists” coming your way if you are thinking. The themes used in the movie are quite dated. What exactly is happening or being offered to us? Come to think of it, we get nothing from this plot. In fact, at one point, it becomes highly boring to watch the movie, and towards the end, you have already guessed the ending, so it becomes frustrating to continue. Even the execution and dialogue are boring.

The makers tried to show some sort of character development with Thando, but that doesn’t go well with its execution. They showed a very immature character of Thando, who is jealous at first and then realizes that she is in love with Charles.

Performance-wise, the acting is a saving grace for us. Katlego Lebogang, as Thando Mokoena, does a great job. She is convincing and shows us the two emotions pretty well. Again, Siya Sepotokele as Charles looks good with Katlego Lebogang, who looks amazing onscreen and does a fantastic job. Even the supporting cast is good in their roles. No one here overacts one bit at all. That makes the movie slightly bearable, despite its unusual plot, which is well-known to us.

Other than that, pacing is highly erratic. There are some scenes in which a lot of time is wasted and some where hardly any is. The plot seems to be heavily borrowed from previous plots we have seen all through the while. I wish the makers had gotten us something nice and better to watch. It feels as if the potential of the actors is wasted. All in all, this movie can be skipped unless you are absolutely bored and have no other options to watch.

Final Score- [4/10]
