‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Trailer Unites Heroes of Multiple Worlds Against Their Biggest Threat Yet

Marvel Studios has finally revealed the first official full-length trailer for ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ that teases heroes of different worlds coming together to face a common threat. Along with the trailer, Marvel also confirmed the official logline of the film.

Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, Avengers: Doomsday follows beloved heroes from three distinct universes as they’re set on a deadly collision course and face an existential threat unlike anything they’ve ever encountered. Based on the posters and trailer, it may seem Doctor Doom is the villain, but the logline suggests that the threat is still unknown and Doctor Doom may be on the opposite side.

The official Avengers: Doomsday trailer opens with Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom’s deep, commanding voice narrating over the footage: “Something’s coming. Something we may not be able to deter. Before this day is done, we shall be faced with an unthinkable decision.” The scene shifts to the Xavier Institute, where Patrick Stewart’s Professor Charles Xavier gazes out a window and sees a sudden, ominous bright flash of light in the sky signaling the arrival of a multiversal threat. A profile shot of Doom in his green-hooded armor and metal mask follows, establishing him as the central antagonist.

The trailer then cuts to Avengers Tower, now bearing a prominent red-and-white “A” logo, where the Fantastic Four’s ship arrives and touches down. Thor accompanies Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm, and Ben Grimm as they meet Sam Wilson’s New Avengers team (including Yelena Belova, Bucky Barnes, and others) for the first time, with the groups beginning to get acquainted amid visible tension. Inside the Baxter Building, the X-Men appear, including James Marsden’s Cyclops walking into a room. Crossovers and conflicts quickly escalate: Shang-Chi battles Gambit in the X-Mansion, their fighting styles clashing dramatically. Rebecca Romijn’s Mystique fights Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova, shapeshifting into an exact duplicate of Yelena to create a chaotic doppelganger duel that ends with the reveal of her true form. Reed Richards appears on comms, urgently demanding of Doom, “Answer me!” A brief, intimate moment shows Joseph Quinn’s Johnny Storm holding Vanessa Kirby’s Sue Storm, while Tenoch Huerta’s Namor flies and Letitia Wright’s Shuri meets with him. Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man kisses his daughter Cassie on the forehead in a quiet personal beat.

Loki, in his TVA suit, materializes inside the familiar 1950s-style house teased earlier. The centerpiece action sequence shows Chris Hemsworth’s Thor leaping at Doom with Stormbreaker raised, hurling the axe with full force. Doom calmly stops the weapon mid-air with a simple wave of his hand and two fingers, the lightning crackling harmlessly against an invisible barrier as RDJ’s piercing green eyes glare from beneath the mask. Thor, frustrated, later recounts the encounter to the assembled heroes.

Thor delivers a powerful rallying speech to the fractured groups of Avengers, X-Men, Fantastic Four, Wakandans, and others: “I’ve fought with many warriors in my time. They were far stronger than all of us put together. And they died. They died facing enemies and threats that scared me far less than this one. Everything that they sacrificed will be for nothing if we do not stand together. Put aside your petty squabbles and presume nothing except this. If you return, you will return as brothers and sisters. But mark my words, we’re going to need a miracle.”

In a major emotional high point, Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) suddenly appears and greets Thor with a casual “Hey, pal.” Thor, stunned, replies, “It’s not possible.” Steve then summons Mjolnir from Thor’s hand, proving his identity and worthiness in a callback to Endgame. Steve also shares a heartfelt moment with Yelena, telling her that Natasha was family to him, which makes Yelena family too. The footage is fast-paced and cinematic, intercutting intense action, emotional reunions, cross-franchise team-ups, and multiversal stakes with sweeping shots of heroes from three universes converging against an existential threat. The trailer ends with the title card confirming the December 18 theatrical release.

Marvel also revealed an official poster of the film that shows Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom walking through the grand halls of his castle, passing a massive portrait of his wife and son that underscores his personal stakes.

December 18th is Doomsday.
