Intentional or not, leaks are becoming common these days. A few days back, there were set photos from Deadpool 3 shared everywhere, and now the teaser trailer for the upcoming Illumination movie, Despicable Me 4 has been leaked. The footage is shown to have a watermark of iSpot.tv, which confirms the source of the leak.

Update: The official trailer for Despicable 4 was released later on January 28th, 2024. Watch above

In the first Despicable Me movie in seven years, Gru, the world’s favorite supervillain-turned-Anti-Villain League agent, returns for an exciting, bold new era of Minions mayhem in Illumination’s Despicable Me 4. Following the 2022 summer blockbuster phenomenon of Illumination’s Minions: The Rise of Gru, the biggest global animated franchise in history now begins a new chapter as Gru (Oscar® nominee Steve Carrell) and Lucy (Oscar® nominee Kristen Wiig) and their girls —Margo (Miranda Cosgrove), Edith (Dana Gaier) and Agnes (Madison Polan)—welcome a new member to the Gru family, Gru Jr., who is intent on tormenting his dad. Gru faces a new nemesis in Maxime Le Mal (Emmy winner Will Ferrell) and his femme fatale girlfriend Valentina (Emmy nominee Sofia Vergara), and the family is forced to go on the run.

The leaked trailer is 30 seconds long and teases the plot of the fourth film involving a little trouble involving Gru's newborn kid. The trailer shows Gru and the gang of minions going on a heist along with Gru's newborn son. It begins with Gru instructing the gang about a danger as he says, "The most important part of a heist is being aware of potential danger." The next moment he frees that potential danger - the Honey Badger. Watch the leaked teaser trailer below:

The small teaser surely raises our hopes while also confirming another leak that revealed the potential plot details of the film. As per this leak, "Despicable Me 4 will follow Gru as he and Lucy are having a baby! Edith, Agnes, and Margo are all approaching teenagers and taking on responsibility for themselves. Gru and Lucy reconnect with the Anti-Villian League, which accepts the entire Gru family. Also, there's the villain Poppy!

The fourth film of the series and the sixth in the overall franchise will be riding on the success of the previous installments. Despicable Me 3 was a huge box office hit grossing more than a billion dollars globally on a budget of less than $100 million. The last film in the franchise, Minions: The Rise of Gru also grossed $940 million while being released in the aftermath of the pandemic. The Rise of the Gru created a trend that had never been associated with any other animated films. Not just kids, but young adults were turning up to the theaters wearing suits which became a viral trend and a meme boosting up the film's performance. It will be interesting to see if Despicable Me 4 would be able to create some similar trend to be in the news when it releases.

Directed by Chris Renaud, co-directed by Patrick Delage, produced by Chris Meledandri, and written by Mike White, Despicable Me 4 includes the voices of Steve Carell as Gru, Kristen Wiig as Lucy Wilde, Pierre Coffin as the Minions, Miranda Cosgrove as Margo, Will Ferrell, Joey King, Sofia Vergara, Stephen Colbert, Chloe Fineman, Chris Renaud, Dana Gaier, Madison Polan, and Steve Coogan.

Despicable Me 4 will be theatrically released on July 3, 2024, in the US and the theaters, worldwide.
