Season 2 of Thank You Next has arrived, and with the new season, we get to see an unforgiving Leyla. The plot picks up from where it left off. To brush your memory, season one ended with Leyla leaving Omer on their wedding day. With so many mixed signals passed at her, she finally took the bold decision to end this toxicity. And now season two starts from here.
While you may notice that not much has changed this time too when it comes to job, living space the people she is surrounded with, what does change is her attitude towards Omer. She now devotes her energy to Cem, who at this moment does seem to be a better choice. However, is she really into him, or is this a rebound, something we won't get to know instantly? Thinking, Omer went away for good? Think again. Lyela tries her level best to sever ties with Omer, but all in vain. That doesn’t happen because if it happens, how will we get the plot for season 2? And of course, we do need a good-looking villain because that’s what makes a plot spicy. For this, the makers plot Defne who devises Lyel through lies and makes her doubtful about her relationship with Cem. Omer informs Lyela that he is leaving everything behind to move to Dubai for a new start but sadly on the way to the airport, he meets with an accident and assaults the police officer who tries to de-escalate the matter. And there is no guessing required here. He is no longer going to Dubai for his new job.
Now here’s the thing, this plot has too many men all for Lyela. And this is a story that offers nothing new. It doesn’t take what it has to be intriguing. One man is replaced by another within minutes. Exes try to come back. So, what is something new we are seeing? The answer is nothing. Chances are that the plot is heavily borrowed from other international stories. At one point, you don’t feel like watching something repetitive. And this is the reason why season two is not at all appealing. It works on the formula based on misunderstanding, exes coming back, and repeat. Okay, we get it that by making Lyela leave her own wedding after finding out about Omer’s affairs, the makers want to portray an independent woman. But much of this strong woman’s identity and life revolves around men and nothing else!
The plot sure is predictable. You already know what to expect. But if you are a fan, you will most likely watch it for Lyela. Too much drama is also harmful for a storyline, and here, that is what has happened. We definitely don’t need to see Lyela with a new man in every new season. Maybe that can be changed. Now the question is: will Lyela and Cem continue the relationship? Will the misunderstandings between Omer and Lyela vanish?
When it comes to acting, the plot is good. Serenay Sarikaya as Leyla is gorgeous. Her outfit and looks make it worth a watch. The rest of the cast also does a good job of pushing and supporting the weak plot. So watch if you are a big fan, or else feel free to pass.
Final Score- [7/10]
