This has to be one of the sweetest stories I have watched. The plot follows the story of Lee Hana and Fujiwara Sosuke, two young individuals with their own set of personal insecurities. Their only main connection was chocolate, which led them to fall in love and also experience the bittersweet challenges that take place in love. In addition to all this, there is grief and sorrow that surrounds their lives. After the passing of the owner of the chocolate store “Le Sauveur”, the intertwined destiny of Lee Hana and Fujiwara Sosuke brings them together, and they must navigate their way through life for their love to survive. But there is a twist. These two suffer from severe anxiety. The man has a fear of being touched by others, while the woman cannot/avoids looking people in their eyes.  What must be noted is that Lee Hana is a gifted chocolatier, but no one knows about this except the owner of Le Sauveur. Presently, Fujiwara Sosuke has been made the newly appointed representative of the store. Thus, we have two people who have a mutual love for chocolate.

Now, even though the theme of love and grief is here, the makers don’t bore with melodrama. They keep things short and simple in 8 episodes that follow around. This helps the chemistry between our leads grow and develop naturally. Slowly and steadily, they build the chocolate store together and also keep in mind the lessons of the past. We also get to see how things are built from scratch- be it matters of the heart or business.

Apart from all this, the trials of mental health are also given a good amount of screen time. Since the show deals with loss and grief, we are shown by the makers the impact it has on people. While for some it leads to trauma, the only way to overcome is to accept the reality. This is a crucial message we are shown. All this and the bonding between people are reflected in the form of baking scenes, which are crucial for the show. Even the reasons for their anxiety are similar to what many people feel or undergo. For this reason, the show becomes very relatable to people who are undergoing this.

The pacing is even throughout. Not once will you feel that it is slow or just dragging itself. Instead, it goes on well with time, which makes you want to watch it. And of course, it isn’t a thriller, but the sweetness and the cuteness of the plot and the cast make you want to watch it.  Yes, all this doesn’t mean that things aren’t repetitive. A lot of old romantic things are tricks and techniques that we have seen in other shows and movies, and are also shown here. So, at one point, that makes things a bit predictable.  This also means that even the dialogs are already known to us (not all, just some). But the way the plot develops, one can ignore all this, and chances are that you might not even notice it.

So overall, if you are someone who likes chocolate and loves stories, this awkward yet adorable plot is just the right serve for you. You can relate, and even if you don’t, the story of Lee Hana and Fujiwara Sosuke is warm enough to make you fall in love with their chemistry.

Final Score- [8/10]
