Drum rolls because we have finally reached the end of Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord after witnessing the journey of Maul. As we approach May 4, a great day for all Star Wars fans, this couldn't have been a better day to wrap up Maul's story for this season. So episode nine picks up from where episode eight left off. Maul has now realized that brute force won't be securing his position anymore. With the Galactic Empire going a step in tightening its grip and the Inquisitors closing in, Maul starts to form temporary alliances even with people he doesn't know yet. This can be a step that is highly dangerous at a time when Maul knows that he can be killed anytime. Along with this, we see a major focus on his relationship with Devon Izara. Maul now aims to bring her deeper into the worldview. He is trying his best to push her towards embracing power the way he once did under the influence of Darth Sidious.  However, Devon isn't the one to listen so easily, thereby creating tensions between the two.

By the time we reach episode 10, we can see that everything Maul has been building so far finally materializes. The alliances he built in episode 9 quickly unravel, telling us that he never built them to last. So now there is a bigger conflict that arises: there is a battle between Maul and the Inquisitors, crime syndicates who are turning against each other, and Devon, who ends up getting caught in the middle of all this. In Devon, we see a sense of independence. She firmly refuses to become his apprentice. For Maul, this is a big setback as he fails to form a bond with the only person he thought could become his apprentice. By the end of episode 10, we witness Maul winning ultimately, but on a personal front, he has lost more than he thought he would gain. The Empire, too, remains a looming threat as it is not fully defeated.

Clearly, the finale was a great one, which has set the stage for a new season. That would be something worth witnessing as the makers will have to carry forward Maul's journey. Honestly, I am now eager to watch season 2. In so many ways, we got to see that Maul emerged as a winner, yet also lost. That character development since episode 1 is worth noting. The makers have maintained the fact that someone so powerful can still lose if he doesn't maintain bonds. For me, Maul's story felt like a one-man army scenario. I am not saying he didn't try enough, yet things didn't really work in his favor.

Coming to the visual parts, visually, the entire show has been a treat to the eyes. It has lived up to its Star Wars reputation, and Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord has just added to the amazing work its predecessors did.

The pacing of the entire show has been even, meaning one will get enough time to understand and grasp what the show has been meaning to convey. So Star Wars fans, gear up for some more fun as you have a great show to watch.

Final Score- [8/10]
