Netflix has revealed the first trailer for “The Unlikely Murderer,” based on the award-winning book of the same name written by Thomas Pettersson in 2018. The five-part Swedish-language limited series will premiere on November 5 on Netflix, worldwide.

The Swedish drama series is a fictitious depiction of how Stig Engström, the graphic designer labeled as the suspected killer of Sweden's Prime Minister Olof Palme, eluded prosecution until his death through a mix of daring, luck, and a befuddled police force. What information do we have on Stig Engström? How did the cops let him get away while they were on his tail? The murder was not planned well, Engström did everything wrong from the start, and nearly no one believed his claims about what he truly did on that fateful night in Stockholm, Sweden, in 1986.

Robert Gustafsson (The Hundred-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out of the Window and Disappeared, Det som göms i snö), one of Sweden's most beloved comedians and actors, is playing the lead role as Stig Engström. Joining Robert Gustafsson are Eva Melander, Mikael Persbrandt, and Peter Andersson.

The cast also consists of Joel Spira, Torkel Petterson, Henrik Norlén, Shanti Roney, Lia Boysen, Magnus Krepper, Emil Almén, Björn Bengtsson, Peter Viitanen and Cilla Thorell.

Wilhelm Behrman and Niklas Rockström (Caliphate, Before We Die) wrote the script, while Charlotte Brändström (The Witcher, Jupiter's Legacy) is the conceptual director. This series is also directed by Simon Kaijser (Don't Ever Wipe Your Tears Without Gloves, Before We Die, Spinning Man). FLX, the production firm behind the Netflix original shows Quicksand and Love & Anarchy, has produced the Swedish language series.

The executive producer is Pontus Edgren, while Fatima Varhos and Frida Asp from FLX are the producers.
