This final season of Envious is way better than the ones we saw previously. Vicky is back and finally in a happy relationship with Matías. But this doesn’t come easy to her as she now tries to adjust to the feeling of what it is like to be in a “mature relationship”. At the same time, she also has a new, unfamiliar territory to navigate through: being around Matías’s young, one-year-old son, Bruno. Early enough, she realizes that pleasing and taking care of a young kid is no joke, especially when you aren’t his mother. There are constant tensions taking place between Bruno’s mother and Vicky, and at the same time, Nicolás returns into her life. All her peace is now turned into havoc. The love triangle between Nicolás, Matías, and Vicky continues to form a big part of season 4. We also get to see how Vicky adjusts to being around Bruno, which, of course, is no joke with Bruno’s mother constantly hovering around. Much of the season this time revolved a lot around Bruno, which was an interesting addition to Vicky’s life. There is a lot of chaos that comes with the character of Bruno, which is a clear indication that Vicky has to solve these issues by herself.
In season 4 of Envious, clearly, there is a lot of character development we see in Vicky. She comes across as someone who has become much more poised in nature. That was very much visible in the way she dealt with the whole Bruno scenario. Compared to the last three seasons, this is the season where Vicky peaked. She went from being more than a damsel in distress to a woman ready to take care of her own life. I feel this time around, the makers succeeded in showing us that. Even with the love triangle in the way, her character had a lot of clarity compared to the Vicky we saw previously.
The plot is nothing new. I feel we have seen this kind of plot many times. However, much of the focus shifted from being a woman experiencing a break and wanting to move on to being a woman who is in a relationship. This was a different thing I found in the plot, and honestly, I loved what the makers did with the plot this time. With this, I feel the plot to Vicky’s life comes to a good end, as we have seen everything her role can offer to us. In addition to all this, the makers kept us entertained with the subplots of her friends, her changing dynamics with her friend groups, etc. By doing this, the makers ensured that the plot is not stuck to one thing again and again.
The themes chosen and portrayed by Envious can be relatable to many people in this era. That connection was established by the show, and thankfully, the execution gained a lot of clarity by the time we reached season 4. I saw improvements in not only the script but also the pacing. All of this makes the show worth at least one watch if you are someone who has been witnessing Vicky’s journey from the very beginning.
Final Score- [6/10]
