Jennifer Lopez is back with yet another romance with Brett Goldstein, this time set up at a workplace. The film follows Jackie Cruz (played by Lopez), the CEO of Air Cruz, an airline company built around some really strict professional rules and regulations. One such rule is the anti-fraternization policy that aims to prohibit workplace romance and any sort of relationship. These rules become difficult to enforce when Daniel Blanchflower (played by Goldstein), a dashing British lawyer, joins the company. Within no time, he forms a bond with Jackie. This doesn’t go well in their office, and in no time they find themselves navigating the messy combination of ambition and romance. The question is: will they have to choose between the two?

There are many good things about this movie. For example, the cast consisting of Jennifer Lopez and Brett Goldstein does a great job with their roles. The makers have tried to take us to some of the most amazing romcoms that we have been fortunate to witness in the past. The plot does that justice pretty well. For example, the writers have ensured that the elements of romance, which make almost all movies work, are there: a workaholic executive learning to open her heart. So these things make the plot work.

But even with all this, the plot isn’t something out of the box. One might feel odd watching a similar type again. And even if we are ready to ignore this aspect, the lack of chemistry between the leads is something one cannot ignore. Both Lopez and Goldstein feel awkward about their romance. They try their level best, yet it feels that something is heavily missing. That doesn’t mean that they aren’t good in their roles individually. As separate characters, the entire acting comes off natural except for the part of romance. This can go negatively for a movie that is based on romance.

Also, the overall tone feels abruptly inconsistent. For example, sometimes it feels like the movie is trying to give us a throwback to some of the most iconic romcom movies from the 90 and 2000s. Then, after a while, they try to take us to the rom-coms we have seen in the coming years. This on-and-off again creates a lot of inconsistency while watching because combining two different eras doesn’t always work well.

The pacing also becomes uneven while the makers try to make sense of what they have created. In some scenes, the pacing is fast. Then again, it slows down. This switch of speed continues throughout the runtime. As a result, there is a high chance that one will lose interest in whatever we are trying to watch.

This sure was an honest attempt, but clearly it doesn’t succeed the way one expects it to. The cast and the supporting cast are the only saving grace for which you can watch Office Romance. But if you are here after watching shows like Off Campus and Maid in Manhattan, then maybe this movie can feel a little off. It is indeed good as a one-time watch, that too, if you are a fan of Jennifer Lopez.

Final Score- [4/10]
