Papa Zola has beautifully turned an ordinary family man into an unlikely superhero in this animated adventure that is a mix of comedy, science fiction, action, and family drama. The plot revolves around Papa Zola, a hardworking father who has spent his days trying to provide a comfortable life for his family, just like most fathers. He works as a delivery rider and also works part-time jobs. This makes him a character whose biggest concern is making ends meet.
However, Papa Zola’s ordinary life hides a big secret that no one knows. He and his wife, Mama Zila have forgotten an important part of their past. Before becoming parents, the couple was involved with the Protect and Prevent Agency, or PAPA, an organization dedicated to protecting Earth from alien threats. Soon enough, this past life of theirs becomes important when an extraterrestrial attack suddenly throws the world into chaos.
But these aliens aren’t the regular ones. Instead of destroying cities with conventional weapons, the aliens make use of advanced technology to transform the environment into something resembling a giant game. The city now looks like a battlefield filled with challenges, obstacles, and dangers. Things become worse and more personal when Papa Zola’s daughter, Pipi, is kidnapped during the invasion. Her disappearance gives him a clear motivation to return to the world he was previously a part of. The larger threat comes from the aliens' plan involving the Power Spgera Cimubot. Their goal is to transform the real world into a simulation world and use that in order to conquer Earth. Now the stakes have gone beyond Pipi’s kidnapping. What initially began as a family crisis gradually becomes a fight for the future of the entire planet, thereby putting Papa Zola in the position of having to protect both his daughter and the world around him.
The plot of Papa Zola feels quite similar to that of “The Incredible”. Come to think of it, in my way, it is similar, but that is alright. One doesn’t mind watching something the same as long as the execution is right. Papa Zola is a good animated movie for children. It has every element in it that can make it a great watch. Even the animation used is soft and slow, which ensures that a child’s brain is not hurt when watching it.
I particularly loved how the makers gave a solid backstory to Papa Zola and his Mama Zila with the help of their forgotten past. It makes you curious to know how these once “superheroes” are now living ordinary lives. The pacing of the movie is deliberately slow for the children to understand. So, as such, you won't witness any kind of rush as the plot progresses. Things happen in their own time, and we get to witness the whole plot unfold. So all in all, dear parents, if you wish to watch something fun and adventures with your kid, Papa Zola is your watch. It is sweet, fun, and quite interesting to watch.
Final Score- [8/10]
