The second season of the hit Apple TV+ sci-fi series officially wrapped filming last week in London, UK. Silo Season 2 began filming in May last year but was halted due to the SAG-AFTRA strike in July. After the strikes ended, the filming was able to resume in December 2023.

Silo Season 2 took almost six months to complete filming, but it is yet to be finished as post-prod is still pending. The second season of Silo will enter post-production in April 2024 and is likely to take another six months to finally make the returning show premiere ready. If we go by the schedule, Silo Season 2 won't be released before 2025 on Apple TV+. But nothing to be disappointed about as Apple TV+ has a lot of other sci-fi shows already lined up.

Silo received an advance renewal from Apple TV+ and the second season began filming when the first season had just begun its run. Silo Season 1 premiered on May 5, 2023, and it received renewal on June 14, 2 weeks before the first season's finale on June 30, 2023.

In the first season's finale, Juliette has Danny broadcast the outside footage to the entire Silo, but Bernard swiftly shuts it down. Later, Juliette steps outdoors, and her helmet's display shows the same video footage of a gorgeous landscape as the previous day. She recognizes the illusion and discovers that the reality is the dismal vista on Silo's displays. Because Walker has made sure that the heat tape on Juliette's suit is of high quality, instead of dying there, Juliette is able to walk out of the crater that surrounds the Silo, out of sight of its inhabitants. The crater is surrounded by dozens of identical craters, each with a structure akin to a silo entrance and a hazy ruined city in the background.

I am not sure how Season 2 will follow the novels accurately as the second book series from Hugh Howey, Shift is a prequel story to the Wool and doesn't include any of the characters present in Wool. The cast of the first season is expected to reprise their roles. Michael Dinner and Amber Templemore are the two known directors of the second season.

The regular cast of the series includes Rebecca Ferguson as Juliette Nichols, Rashida Jones as Allison Becker, David Oyelowo as Holston Becker, Common as Robert Sims, Tim Robbins as Bernard Holland, Harriet Walter as Martha Walker, Avi Nash as Lukas Kyle, Rick Gomez as Patrick Kennedy, and Chinaza Uche as Paul Billings.

"Silo" is the story of the last ten thousand people on Earth, who live in a mile-deep tunnel to protect themselves from the toxic and deadly world outside. However, no one knows when or why the Silo was built, and anyone who tries to find out risks being killed. Rebecca Ferguson leads the series as Juliette, a hardworking engineer who seeks answers about the murder of a loved one stumbles upon a mystery that is far deeper than she could have ever imagined, leading her to discover that if lies don't kill you, the truth will.

“Silo” is written by Graham Yost and directed by Morten Tyldum, both of them return for the second season.
