Apple TV ‘Silo’ Season 3 Episode 7 Review - The Killer Drone

The game of deception has begun, and Juliette doesn't want to reveal her cards to anyone as she decides to send Lukas and Kennedy at night instead of dawn, as agreed with the Algorithm. The episode begins with Juliette briefing Lukas, Kyle, and Patrick Kennedy on the mission: go outside to Silo 17 to rescue the remaining kids and retrieve the safeguard pipe blueprint layout. The goal is to map the Safeguard outlet inside Judicial in Silo 18. Kennedy is reluctant to enter another silo; they settle on him escorting Lukas there without going inside himself. A note arrives, so Juliette has Danny disable cafeteria monitors while the pair waits.

Juliette meets Robert, who warns her that “Vitamin D” (a memory-suppressing additive) has been put into the water supply. It will erase curiosity and memories of the truth; he urges her to avoid tap water and accelerate shutting down the Safeguard before it spreads widely. Robert is being followed and cannot continue direct contact. He later pretends to sleep when Camille returns, hoping she believes he is compliant.

Kat, Sandy, and Danny join the group. Juliette pushes for an immediate departure instead of waiting until dawn. After suiting up, Martha Walker runs checks and assigns radio code names: Martha as “dispatch,” Lukas as “Deputy Turley,” Juliette as “Crane,” and Kennedy as “Calso.” Only Lukas is supposed to communicate with Martha. Lukas and Kennedy exit; Kennedy remarks on the emptiness outside while Lukas notes the stars. Near Silo 17, they hear a loud buzzing, then gunfire. The radio cuts out. Back in Holding 3, panic erupts—especially for Juliette, who worries others will think she knowingly sent them into an armed trap (she herself had previously reached 17 without encountering guns).

In the Vault, Camille consults the Algorithm, which reports Lukas and Kennedy “neutralized.” It shows unedited helmet-cam footage of bodies and explains that their deaths are meant to prove Juliette’s plan only works temporarily: a backup Safeguard (involving what sound like drone-mounted turrets) will activate to eliminate disruptors. The Algorithm tells Camille to convince Juliette to abandon the Silo 17 effort (or kill her if she persists). Camille confronts an armed Juliette; she claims suit malfunctions from the rushed departure, but Juliette pushes back, noting the suits could not have been made bulletproof and implying she understands they were shot.

In before times, Helen and Daniel arrive (via remote-controlled car) at an airport and face Henry and Senator Thurman. In a hangar, they encounter Charlotte, Victor, and Anna. Daniel is shocked by Charlotte; she says she remembers him but requires NDAs. Lawyers and Per Stensen pressure them—refusal means Guantanamo-like consequences. Charlotte signed to learn about her own Iran-bombing-related amnesia. Helen and Daniel agree and board for answers within 24 hours. Victor has restored some of Charlotte’s recent memories (up to entering her jet). Helen talks with Henry. Victor shares his own trauma while assuring further memory restoration. They helicopter to Stensen’s large farm (~400 square miles / the silos sit on a 300,000-acre site). At the dig site, they see a massive drilling machine creating the holes for the silos. Stensen tells Helen a story about unicorn genetics (scientists have the makeup; another billionaire will fund creation if allowed to hunt/kill one) and criticizes billionaires’ destructive tendencies. The episode ends on this reveal of active silo construction, framed as the project that will “save the world.”

Later, Camille argues with Robert and Anthony. Sandy discusses Judicial passes (tied to Juliette green-lighting Teddy’s plan). Robert and Anthony use a jacket switcheroo to obtain passes. Camille forces Robert to accompany her to interrogate Nurse Amy in Judicial Seclusion. Teddy’s team spots them and questions the plan; Juliette signals approval because opportunities are rare. The team plants explosives inside Judicial.

Meanwhile, Juliette reunites with Martha, Bernard, Shirley, Knox, Clara, and Teddy. Teddy proposes using explosives to breach Judicial walls and destroy the Safeguard pipes (accepting that poison would release, with new suits to survive until it dissipates). Juliette rejects the mass-casualty risk. Bernard takes her to Gloria (the Flamekeeper from earlier seasons whose memory was previously compromised). Gloria has the diary of “Mission,” a porter from ~140 years ago involved in a rebellion/stairwell bombing. Passages describe memory suppression via drugs and the resulting suicides/violence. Bernard argues that memory-loss casualties could exceed those from a controlled explosion and that risking some lives to save the rest is necessary. Kennedy radios Martha—he has survived, accessed Lukas’s helmet, and reports that the kids in Silo 17 are alive as Martha orders Teddy to abort; he defuses the bombs just in time.

The episode heightens the danger of the Safeguard and its backups, and the origins of the entire system. The fact that Lukas and Kennedy survived despite the Algorithm sending its killer drone with guns to eliminate them confirms that the resistance has reached a new milestone. Meanwhile, the Algorithm is itself unaware of Lukas and Kennedy's fate and has assumed that they were killed in the gunfire, which also raises the question of the Algorithm's intelligence.
