The fourth season of the show was released two years ago, and after the renewal, fans were hoping the fifth season would arrive at this time of the year, which seems impossible now.

With a hit premiere of Pluribus this Friday, there is certainly no shortage of sci-fi shows on Apple TV currently. However, ‘For All Mankind’ holds a different space in the minds of Apple TV+ viewers. The fourth season steered the story in a different direction, beginning eight years after the third season. Now, two years after the release of Season 4, fans are still in the dark with no official update regarding the news of the fifth season.

It is already confirmed that the fifth season of ‘For All Mankind’ wrapped filming earlier this year. The new season was expected to premiere at this time of the year, but surprisingly, as we can see, it hasn't received any updates, though a new sci-fi series, Pluribus, has filled that space. Is Pluribus the reason why Season 5 didn't premiere on its expected time? I certainly cannot deny it, but neither can I confirm it by any means.

Apple TV has already confirmed several shows coming out in the early part of next year, but it has yet to announce its complete slate of shows releasing in the first quarter of 2026. So, the fifth season may still return sooner than later. If I have to go by some unconfirmed reports and analysis of the release schedule of the various Apple TV+ shows (including this one), ‘For All Mankind’ Season 5 can be expected to be released in March 2026. It will also depend on the 2026 lineup of sci-fi shows on the streamer. Silo Season 3, Dark Matter Season 2, Monarch Season 2, Neuromancer, and more are expected to arrive sometime next year.

Meanwhile, the spin-off series of ‘For All Mankind’ that will focus on the Soviet space program has also wrapped up production. Star City began filming earlier this year and will premiere between the fifth and sixth seasons of ‘For All Mankind,’ which is planned to run for seven seasons.

The fifth season has already confirmed the new faces who are joining Season 5. Costa Ronin joins as Lenya, a Soviet politician and former cosmonaut, while Mireille Enos joins as Celia Boyd, a member of the Peacekeeper Security Force on Mars. The two new faces will join the returning cast of Joel Kinnaman as Edward "Ed" Baldwin, Cynthy Wu as Kelly Baldwin, Wrenn Schmidt as Margo Madison, Krys Marshall as Danielle Poole, Coral Peña as Aleida Rosales, Toby Kebbell as Miles Dale, Tyner Rushing as Samantha Massey, Daniel Stern as Eli Hobson, Svetlana Efremova as Irina Morozova, and Edi Gathegi as Dev Ayesa.

In the final episode of Season 4, Margo is shocked by Irina's unexpected arrival in Houston. Aleida visits Sergei’s motel room, where she learns of his death. Margo, devastated by the news, confronts Irina about Sergei’s murder but hesitates in public. Meanwhile, Mars security forces search the hijackers' Operations Command after Miles reveals its location under threat to his family. Most hijackers escape with Dev's help. Their plan is discovered, and a secure discriminator is implemented, initiating the burn sequence.  The hijackers contact Sam and activate a backup plan. Sam performs an EVA to trigger an override switch, successfully extending the burn. Aleida and Margo disrupt Houston’s attempts to regain control, causing the asteroid to enter Mars' orbit. Margo ultimately reveals her actions taken to protect Aleida. Margo is led out of Mission Control in handcuffs, and her speech to the judge is heard over the ending. The Soviet Union launches a probe into Irina, while detainee atrocities on Mars make headlines. Lee's wife lands on Mars, along with a slew of other North Korean exiles. Dani returns to Earth, met by her family and new grandson. Dev looks out from Korolev Crater at Goldilocks, which by 2012 had become the location of a large mining operation known as Kuznetsov Station.

For All Mankind is produced by Sony Pictures Television. Ronald D. Moore is the creator of the show, along with Matt Wolpert and Ben Nedivi, who serve as showrunners for Season 5. Executive producers are Moore and Maril Davis of Tall Ship Productions, as well as David Weddle, Seth Edelstein, Bradley Thompson, and Kira Snyder.
