Directed by Nick Sweeney, this music documentary follows the life and career of Noah Kahan. The best part about the documentary is the portrayal of its central figure: Noah Kahan. No way do the makers show him as the best musician out there. Rather, they show his raw, unfiltered journey filled with ups and downs. Then we are shown the crucial part: how he handles his overwhelming success of Stick Season and the emotional fallout that came with it. Additionally, when I say that we are shown some of his vulnerable sides, by that I mean the moments where Noah Kahan struggled with mental health, body image issues, and self-worth doubts. These are the sides we are rarely shown of any musician, and Noah Kahan: Out of Body takes the bold step of showing us that. Another moment that shows how honest the documentary has been made is when he talks to us about the relationship he shared with his father. And the level of honesty that Noah Kahan displays is unimaginable because that is a man who knows everything about himself, be it the good or the bad, and is even ready to speak about it.

What I loved the most about Noah Kahan: Out of Body was the way it was made. There is a lot to grasp for us as an audience, and that has been shown in the most beautiful way possible. The makers have developed it so well that not once will you feel that you are watching a lot of information on Noah Kahan. Even if you aren’t someone who knows him, the documentary offers you a wide view into what it can look like inside the life of Noah Kahan so far.

There are plenty of behind-the-scenes, archived footage, and personal interviews that make Noah Kahan: Out of Body worth a watch. However, in between, it is these drafts that can cause some confusion while watching. Nonetheless, it supports what the makers wish to show us: the life and beyond of Noah Kahan.

Also, let’s take a moment to appreciate Noah Kahan and his humor, which goes a long way toward lifting the mood amid such heavy themes. He is definitely the star of his own show, the main man who shows us what a life lived can mean. His candidness is what caught my attention, and I am sure it will catch yours as well. The pacing is fine. Nothing is rushed at all. Noah Kahan is given enough time to be understood by us. The pacing is also one of the biggest plus points of the documentary.

If you are someone who is into music and knows Noah Kahan well enough, this documentary is worth a watch. Even if you don’t know him, watching Noah Kahan: Out of Body will make you understand who he is. That being said, I am not sure how much a non-fan person will enjoy this. So dear viewers, brace yourself for some brutality that you will get to see by none other than Noah Kahan himself.
