The filming for Robert Pattinson's The Batman Part II has been delayed and it is no longer starting in November 2023 as planned previously. The delay might be related to the WGA strike, as all the writing activities have been paused and writers of the film Matt Reeves and Mattson Tomlin are also actively part of the strike which is demanding fair wages and work policy for all the writers.

‘The Batman Part 2’ is now expected to begin filming in March 2024 in London, UK. However, this delay is unlikely to have any impact on the release of the sequel. Batman Part II is currently scheduled to release on October 3, 2025, which is still more than two years from now, giving an ample amount of time to complete the production.

The spinoff series titled, The Penguin has also paused production due to the WGA strike after it began filming in March this year. The Penguin is based on the character of Oswald Cobblepot aka The Penguin played by Colin Farrell in The Batman. Colin Farrell is also set to reprise his role in Part 2. The Penguin was expected to wrap up production in August this year but the delay might extend it up to a month or two.

‘The Batman Part 2’ will continue to be a part of a separate DC universe different from the DC slate revealed by James Gunn, which includes a new Superman and Batman and Robin film, The Brave and the Bold, which will be the introduction of the DCU’s Batman, who is not Robert Pattinson or Ben Affleck. Based on the Grant Morrison comic run, The Brave and the Bold is a story of Damian Wayne, who’s Batman’s actual son whom he didn’t know existed for the first eight to ten years of his life.

In the first film where Batman is in his second year of fighting crime and has established himself as the sole model of vengeance amongst his fellow citizens. When a killer targets Gotham’s elite with a series of sadistic machinations, a trail of cryptic clues sends the World’s Greatest Detective on an investigation into the underworld, where he encounters Selina Kyle/aka Catwoman, Oswald Cobblepot/aka the Penguin, Carmine Falcone, and Edward Nashton/aka the Riddler. As the evidence begins to lead closer to home and the scale of the perpetrator’s plans becomes clear, Batman must forge new relationships, unmask the culprit, and bring justice to the abuse of power and corruption that has long plagued Gotham City.

The first film ended with Gotham nearly destroyed because of the mind games played by the Riddler (Paul Dano). The second film is likely to pick up at the same point with a different villain and as suggested by the end-credit scene, it could be Barry Keoghan's The Joker. Nothing regarding the plot of the film has been officially revealed yet.

Robert Pattinson, Zoë Kravitz, and Barry Keoghan will return to their respective roles alongside Andy Serkis, Jeffrey Wright, and Colin Farrell.

Matt Reeves will return to direct the second film which will be based on a script written by him and Mattson Tomlin. Dylan Clark, Geoff Johns, and Michael Uslan are the producers. Warner Bros. Pictures will produce and distribute The Batman Part 2.
